The Terroir of Our Teas

The Terroir of Our Teas

Just as wine carries the soul of its vineyard, our oolong matcha embodies the distinct spirit of its terroir — shaped by the rare convergence of volcanic soil, high-mountain climate, and the pristine air that define Vietnam’s misty Central Highlands.

From this singular terroir, our oolong matcha develops a natural sweetness, refined depth, and a clear, refreshing character that can only come from this mist-cloaked region.

Basalt Volcanic Soils – Richness from the Earth

Good tea is grown, not made. Everything begins with the soil.

In Vietnam’s Central Highlands, ancient red lava has weathered into iron-rich basalt earth, a nutrient-dense foundation that feeds the young oolong leaves used to create our matcha.

This mineral-rich soil is more than a foundation.

It works in harmony with the land around it — volcanic red-soil hills, pine forests wrapped in morning mist, and the calm stillness of highland lakes.

Together, they nourish each leaf, giving our oolong matcha and hōjicha their creamy, rounded body, gentle sweetness, and soft, lingering finish.

Misty Highlands – Nature’s Perfect Tea Garden

High above the bustle of the lowlands, the Central Highlands rise into rolling hills wrapped in drifting, silver mist.

Waterfalls feed clear mountain streams that weave through terraced fields, and the air carries the scent of damp earth and pine.

Morning mists cast a natural shade over tender buds, preserving moisture and protecting delicate leaf surfaces.

As the sun climbs, the mist lifts slowly from the valleys, revealing a landscape shaped by cool air and steady highland light.

At this elevation, tea plants grow slowly, and their flavor deepens as each leaf strengthens.

Tea is a slow craft. Some crops take up to five years to reach full maturity.

Here in the mist-cooled highlands, time moves at a gentler rhythm, giving every leaf the space to grow with quiet patience.

This interplay of altitude, mist, flowing water, and pristine mountain air produces tea leaves with balanced tannins, natural sweetness, and the clarity that defines high-quality oolong matcha.

Misty Lava - A Taste of Place

When you sip our teas, you’re tasting more than a crafted beverage — you’re tasting a landscape.

The volcanic richness of the soil, the mist-cooled highlands, and the care of local growers all weave themselves into each cup.

To this, we add a touch of innovation — crafting an extraordinary matcha from oolong cultivars, bringing together oolong’s complex depth and natural creaminess with the craftsmanship of Japanese matcha.

Our finest teas are shaded for 21 days using traditional Japanese techniques to build sweetness and richness, and we harvest at the peak of tenderness — selecting the first bud and two young leaves for exceptional flavor and texture.

Every cup reflects its origin and craft — refined, aromatic, and shaped by nature’s rhythms — a flavor that could only come from ancient lava, rising mist, and delicately tended tea leaves.
